He collaborated with favorite celebrity jewelry designer Lorraine Schwartz on the ring's design. Ms. Schwartz described the stone as the "perfect cushion cut diamond". The diamond has Flawless clarity and D color! It also is a type IIa diamond - the most valued and purest type of diamonds. (They contain no nitrogen atoms, or just a minute amount, which makes the color more outstanding. Only about 1% of all diamonds in the world are type IIa.)
Kanye wanted the diamond to appear as if it were floating above his beloved's finger. (As if a rock that big could ever look like it was floating!) That's why the pave' band is so delicate.
It seems three times is the charm for the curvy reality television show queen when it comes to marriage. On October 21, 2013, her 33rd birthday, Kanye rented the entire AT&T Park, stadium of the San Francisco Giants, for the gala event. Just family, close friends and a 50-piece orchestra were in attendance in the stadium that is big enough to accommodate over 40,000 people. Kim though the gala was for her birthday alone. But Kanye surprised her with his marriage proposal. He asked her to marry him over the Jumbotron. Like her engagement ring, he likes everything to be BIG!

That was the media accusation in 2012 when Kim's second marriage to Kris Humphries ended after just four months. Shortly after her divorce, Kim was seen out on the town with Kanye.
