Black zirconium is a lightweight and scratch resistant (not scratch proof however) material. The surface is hard and slick - much like porcelain. It does not fade or turn color. The black in some lights is more of a really dark gray. It is not a plating. The natural color of zirconium is gray. But when the ring undergoes oxygenation and extreme heat the metal turns creates a black "shell". Lashbrook then colors the single continuous stitching pattern with orange cerakote.
