This beautiful original filigree diamond ring was crafted in 18K white gold.  Notice the intricate metal work - you don't see this fine detail today.

The method of manufacture of this ring was 'die stamping'.  With heavy presses, dies and hubs, filigree rings from the 1920s were stamped out, generally in two pieces and then assembled.  Way too labor intensive today.  (Nowadays they are cast as one piece.  But to cast the filigree it needs to be much thicker, and loses the intricacy of the old method.)

In the center is a gorgeous Old European Cut diamond, weighing .73ct.  It measures 5.5 x 5.8mm diameter.  It is J color and SI1 clarity, GIA lab graded.  Old European Cut diamonds are noted for their unique sparkle.  They send out more fire (color dispersion) than a modern cut stone.  They are distinguished by a smaller table, higher crowns and larger facets.  Many modern jewelers are now using the antique cut Old Europeans in their designs!  These generally stopped being produced in the 1940s.
